Replacing the Research Accreditation Service

The Research Accreditation Service (RAS) served as the researcher and project accreditation service for users of both the Secure Research Service (SRS), and the Integrated Data Service (IDS). 

Two new systems have been designed to service the different user requirements: 

• Project Accreditation Service for SRS (PASS) 

• People & Projects Service (PPS)

From Tuesday 29 April, researcher accreditation will be managed by the People & Projects Service (PPS).  

PPS is part of the Integrated Data Service (IDS) infrastructure and will service new researcher accreditations and accreditation renewals for users of all Trusted Research Environments (TREs). For more information on how to apply for an IDS Hub account and become an accredited researcher or how to renew your existing accreditation, view the guidance on the IDS website.

From Tuesday 29 April, accredited researchers looking to use the Secure Research Service (SRS) or the Integrated Data Service (IDS), will have different routes to obtain project accreditation. 

SRS

Users of the SRS will use PASS to apply for and maintain projects. The functionality within PASS to maintain existing projects that were accredited through the Research Accreditation Service will be launching by mid-May. Follow this link for guidance on applying for an accredited research project.

IDS

Users of the IDS will continue to use PPS for their project accreditation. For more information on how to submit an IDS project application and make change requests to existing projects, view the guidance on the IDS website.
